Just after school let out we went to St. George to relax and have some fun. Our most favorite part of the trip was Snow Canyon, bowling and of course Pirate Island Pizza. To this day Maddox still talks about Pirate Island Pizza and that he wants to go again. (Good thing its opening in Orem soon!!!)
Maddox's birthday came next and it was a lot of fun. I don't know where his fascination with pirates came from, but from Halloween on it has been pirates, pirates, pirates!!!! We planned a pirate themed party and it was a blast. We made a pirate ship cake which fell apart the night before so remade it with rice crispies which worked out great. We had candles and tootsie rolls for cannons, sales, treasure, a captain...the whole bit. We made cupcakes that we named "The Black Pearl" which was pure chocolate and "Paradise Island" which was confetti cake with a light icing sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. We played Pirate music and played games such as "Walk the Plank" and had a cake walk where the kids got to get a prize from the treasure chest. The best part of the party was when we turned on the smoke machine and it completely blurred our vision. Maddox even got a face full of smoke poor kid! Apparently the smoke machine was made for large industrial areas. So needless to say, it was great! The kids got tattoos, pirate hats, and treasure coins.

We also have been enjoying Cali and her family before their move to California. We have done some real fun things these last few weeks and it is sad to think she will be so far away! Amongst making homemade yogurt, Cali came up with the idea of making a dinosaur egg for the kids. We simply placed small plastic dinosaurs in balloons then blew them up. We then let the kids papermache them and paint them. Later that week we went to the dinosaur museum where Maddox had a great time. We also went to the Live Aquarium in Sandy where the kids were able to see some great things. Maddox loved the Sting Rays and the octopus. He was even able to touch a hissing cockroach!!!

On the 4th of July we went to Grandma Roach's where we enjoy family, great food and of course... the kiddie pool. The kids enjoy playing in the water while the adults enjoy watching the water fight that usually takes place between J.T. and Amb! While Amb is usually the one to go home soaked from head to toe, I am hoping we can plan something great next year that J.T. won't ever forget! Yikes...watch out J.T.
Well to finish off the summer, Brooks and I decided to have a quiet 24th. What started out to be our small family, turned into a big family party in the backyard. It was great! Besides...what is a Holiday without family or a group of friends?!?! We grilled hamburgers, made homemade ice cream, and best of all enjoyed each others company before Nate and Cali move. Though Nate wasn't here to enjoy the Holiday with us, as he was flying home from his 2 month training, we still had a good time. Justin and Shannon brought Jayden's swimming pool and all the kids really enjoyed it! Who wouldn't?!?! Heck...I wanted to go down the slide! It was a great day that ended at Amb and J.T.'s house where we were joined by Grandpa and Grandma Roach, Ty, Andrew, Alecia ,and Grandma Carrie and Grandpa Bryon. While the Men lit the fireworks as fast as they could before the wind and rain put them out, we enjoyed the boys (Maddox and Braiden) clapping and cheering on the show! Of course I forgot my camera when it was time for fireworks, but below are a few pictures of our festivities.
